A recap of Invest in Games 2024

Invest in Games is a yearly event by us, the Swedish Game Industry Trade Association, and the international law firm Bird & Bird. We offer the latest data and trends from the game industry and present the annual report ‘Swedish Game Industry –Game Developer Index’. We invite some knowledgeable guests to speak on some of the most interesting topics in today's game-investing world. 

This year’s edition started with an opening speech by the Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Benjamin Dousa.

This was followed up by a keynote by British game investor Nick Button-Brown on the state of the investing world and why he invests in Swedish game companies.

Before taking a coffee break, we heard all about the highlights from this year’s industry report, which was released the same morning, by our own Head of Analytics, Johanna Nylander. Read the report here in Swedish and in English.

After a short break, we continued to dive into the game-investing world in two panel discussions. One on how to exit with dignity with Daniela Sjunnesson (Node VC), Ludomir Biedecki (Bird & Bird), and Dennis Fagerros (NASDAQ). The other on how to stay ahead of the curve, both off- and pre-market, with KM Troedsson (Behold Ventures), Martin Folke (Bird & Bird), and Thierry Baujard (Spielfabrique/Media Deals).

Last but not least, Invest in Game’s pitch competition, ‘Dagons Den – The Game Industry Version,’ took place on stage, featuring four promising game studios. Sitting in the dragon’s corner were Bibbi Wikman (PlayCap/Aurora Punks), Erik Springchorn (TIN Fonder), and Nick Button-Brown (Brainspark Games/The Games Angels).

Pitching on stage was Finally Games with their game ‘Sonder’, Gilimera Studios with their game ‘Karma & Jonar – The Rock Trolls’, Speldosa Interactive with their game ‘Muri: Wild Woods’ and Tiny Nomads with their game ‘Nasal Nomad: Sniffer's Delight’.
